Time bomb is ticking
away for India’s cities

From Ronan, India:
India has one of the lowest car ownership in the world (7/1000 -hard to believe for those who have visited Delhi),and the government has apparently chosen to put the car at the core of its industrial policy. Roads are already clogged, Indian cities, except for a few(New-Delhi), haven't been built for cars. Pedestrians don't seem to exist for city "planners”, neither policemen, Streets have to be crossed at your own risk. Public transport is considered a nuisance in the city centres and bus stations rejected sometimes 10 km away, creating huge inconvenience to users. Bus owners often go back to inner city, roaming to find customers, adding sometimes a full hour to some journeys. The chaos is increasing by the day. Authorities are powerless or corrupt. Tata Motors has promised a 100 000 IRs car (2400 US dollars), that will run on subsidised petrol, The government itself running one of the biggest fiscal deficits in the world has to borrow money for that!
