Eco-Architecture 2010
Event: This third International Conference on Harmonisation between Architecture and Nature (Eco-Architecture 2010) follows the two successful meetings which were held in the New Forest, UK (2006) and in the Algarve, Portugal (2008). The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for discussing the many relevant aspects of Eco-Architecture: by definition it is inter-disciplinary and requires the collaboration of engineers, planners, physicists, psychologists, sociologists, economists, and other specialists, in addition to architects.

6th European Sustainable Cities & Towns Conference
Event:
The Dunkerque 2010 conference will explore how local sustainability can represent an answer to the current economic, social and climate challenges and how it can be further implemented at the European level under the actual financial and political frameworks. It will also offer a unique opportunity to assess and push forward the progress and achievements of European local governments in the field of sustainable development.
After the successful conferences of Aalborg 1994, Lisbon 1996, Hanover 2000, Aalborg 2004 and Sevilla 2007, more than 1000 local government leaders as well as representatives of local government networks, European institutions and NGOs are expected to take part in the largest European conference dedicated to local sustainable development.

Waste Management 2010
Event: The International Conference on Waste Management and the Environment is organised every two years by the Wessex Institute of Technology in collaboration with other institutions. This fifth conference follows the success of previous meetings held in Cádiz (2002), Rhodes (2004), Malta (2006) and Granada (2008). With our growing awareness of the detrimental environmental effects of current waste disposal, there is a significant onus of accountability for effective waste management. Better practice and safer solutions are required. Not only is there a need for more research on current disposal methods such as landfill, incineration, chemical and effluent treatment, but also on recycling, waste minimisation, clean technologies, waste monitoring, public and corporate awareness, and general education.

International Conference on Urbanization and Global Environmental Change “Opportunities and Challenges for Sustainability in an Urbanizing World”
Event:
The first Open Science Conference of the Urbanization and Global Environmental Change (UGEC) Project is an international effort to bring together scientists, practitioners, policy makers, and stakeholders to understand the multi-faceted interactions between urban areas and global environmental change. The conference seeks to build a forum for reflection, exchange of knowledge, experiences, lessons, ideas, and information, contributing to the creation of efficient strategies for urban sustainability. The structure and approach of the conference is specifically designed to foster dialogue among participants. Oral presentations and posters are encouraged to communicate the knowledge and lessons learned from research projects and practices.
The UGEC Conference will work closely with the Global Land Project (GLP) Open Science Meeting, held October 17-19. GLP is a joint research project for land systems for the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP). Both conferences will be held back to back with one overlapping day, in which the two programs will focus on the themes surrounding the urban, land, and climate change interface.
