COMMENTS:
Thumbs up:
• EKK (Honolulu): I wasn't a fan of the mayor; however over the last 4 years, I've been impressed by his continuou efforts to make our city a better place for us. I voted for the other guy 4 years ago.
• Mahina (Honolulu): He has been able to get rail through, he supported the Boat and later had to cut it due to budget cuts, he invested in Chinatown and he has done some important sewer repairs.
• Hiloschild (Honolulu): Acceptance by the resident in Honolulu to build the Rail system, updating sewer system. Having a balanced budget for the City and County of Honolulu, unlike the Governor of the State of Hawaii.

Thumbs down:
• Mic (Honolulu): Infrastructure problems, homelessness professing to be a moderate Democrat when he is actually a conservative, a Mormon who allows his religion to dictate his policies
• Kanaka81 (Honolulu): He's always trying to change Hawaiian land marks and ways, like the Hawaiian street names to English. when asked he said its for the visitors so they can read the street names and find were there. When ever some thing in his department goes wrong he always passes the blame on to someone else, and when questioned about the wrong doings he gets defensive and loud. And at times he pushs his weight around like a bully to intimadate people to back off because of his size and back ground.thats just my opinion
• Mahina (Honolulu): Rather than admit that he might have been wrong about things, he will alienate those who disagree and force staff and contractors to carry out his objectives even if they are the opposite of what is good for the community. For example, He stopped the $6 million War Memorial restoration for a "cheaper" alternative (demolishing it for a man made beach), which, four years later, they inform us is estimated to cost $17 million. To cover it up, his staff says the restoration project that he stopped would now cost $50 million. Inflation is not that high.
• Skeptic (Honolulu): Pushing for a $5 billion rail system
• Jayz (Honolulu): Mayor Hannemann has neglected Honolulu's infrastructure: Sewer and water mains break, third world potholed streets, homeless running amok
• K O (Honolulu): Broke the budget to force a rail system on a city that it doesn't want.
• Anatasia S (Honolulu): Hannemann admitted that he ran a negative campaign against Abercrombie with strong inappropriate ads.
• Riana D V (Honolulu): His greatest achievement in office thus far has been raising the taxes to the highest level they've ever been at. Also, having tax paying citizens banned from camping out ONCE a year (as they've been allowed every year until he came into office). Also, his office promotes a "free" movie on the beach on the weekends, but takes all the free street parking, allocating them for some mysterious "movie on the beach 'permit only' crew", and then ALSO raises the nearest public parking meter rate to $1 an hour. It was previously $0.25/ hr. for the last 20 years or so. He also very unwisely tried to illegally pass a rail system, that will cost the city over $6 BILLION. When asked by the public or media about his decisions, Mayor Hanneman becomes EXTREMELY defensive, raising his voice at reporters and behaving as if he is above the law or consideration of the public.
